At least nine people were killed, including a woman and a child, in separate incidents of violence and arson attacks in various areas of the city, media reports said on Monday.
According to details, a woman died in a firing incident in Machar colony near the Docks area of the city.
In a separate incident, one man died of gunshot wounds in Kunwari Csolony area within the limits of the Manghopir Police Station.
Meanwhile, the body of a 10-year-old boy was found in Ibrahim Hyderi’s Rehri Goth area of the city. The dead body was recovered with a noose tied around the neck, said police sources.
Similarly, another person was gunned down in Kharadar area near the paper market.
Two more bodies were found in Orangi Town and Ibrahim Hyderi areas. Police said that both the dead bodies bore torture marks.
In yet another incident, another person was shot dead in Landhi-6 area of the city while an unidentified man was shot dead at Kunwari Colony in Mangho Pir.
In addition, unknown gunmen opened fire on a vehicle in PECHS Block 2 area of the city and injured the passengers sitting in the car. A cleric named Maulana Obaidul Haq and his pupil named Nazir were critically injured in the attack. Per details, Obaid was returning to his seminary after visiting Jamia Binor Town in Guru Mandar when gunmen attacked his vehicle.
Three other people were also injured in Malir and Memon Goth in separate incidents of violence.
In a dacoity incident, two alleged robbers were killed during an encounter with police in Korangi No 6 area of the city.
According to police sources, the robbers were busy looting a sweets shop in the area when a police party reached the spot and an encounter ensued afterwards that resulted in the killing of the alleged robbers.
Five killed in bus-truck collision near Nooriabad: At least five people were killed and more than 30 were injured when a bus carrying a wedding party collided with a truck on the Super Highway.
Police said the deadly road accident took place on Monday morning on the highway near Nooriabad Town situated 94 kilometres outside the metropolitan.
A bus, carrying more than 50 wedding party members, collided head on with a truck. As a result, five people were killed and over 30 sustained injuries.
Officials said the accident occurred due to overspeeding. Police and rescue teams shifted the injured to different hospitals in Karachi to undergo medical treatment.
