Organised lifestyle is a key stress reliever: Dietician

A simplified and organised lifestyle is the key to reduce stress while it also enhances stamina, dietician Dr Shagufta Feroz said on Monday.

Talking about stress management on a private news channel, Dr Shagufta advised that having a good night sleep, at least six hours, reduces stress because while sleeping, your body gets naturally repaired.

She said that irregular intake of caffeine, tobacco and medication produce chemicals in one’s brain that may cause stress.

She suggested that religious practices were the best way to release stress, especially saying ones prayers and recitation of Darood Sharif and Surah

Rehman.

“During Sajda our stress gets ‘earthed’,” she added.

She said sleeplessness was a big reason for stress as it produces such chemicals in stomach that may cause stress.

“Having breakfast on a regular basis helps your body to bounce back the stress and makes you stress absorbent or tolerant,” she said.

She said watching too much television and sitting in front of computer screens were activities which enhanced stress as the radiation from these equipments get accumulated in the brain, leading to more stress.
