A Rescue 1122 worker on Sunday committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills after failing to get salary for the last eight months.
According to details, Shafiq, a resident of Kabirwala, was living with his friends in a flat on Jail Road. Shafiq’s wife was pregnant and he needed money for her medical treatment.
Rescue official Ruqaiya said that Shafiq had left for his village after getting salary. She said the man died after drinking too much alcohol. She said Shafiq was died while on his to a hospital. She said investigation has been started in this regard. She said a team has been sent to inquire the death. The team members include Multan District Emergence Officer (DEO) Dr Farhan Khalid, DEO Khanewal Dr Ijaz and Multan Emergence Officer Ahmed Kamal. She said that the team had visited Shafiq’s family members and took their statements. She said the Punjab Emergency Service would request the Home Department to investigate the case with the help of police.
