The Pakistan People’s Party has laid down the foundation of coalition politics in Pakistan and has successfully completed its tenure because of the flexibility and understanding shown by the party’s leadership, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said on Monday.

Talking to Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, who called on him at the PM’s House, the prime minister said Benazir Bhutto had visualised that the issues confronted by the country could not be resolved by a single party.

“President Asif Ali Zardari embarked upon a policy of cooperation with political forces with the objective of providing stable and democratic governance to the people of Pakistan,” Ashraf said.

Political issues with special reference to the general elections were also discussed during the meeting.
