Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, has said that beauty lies in simplicity and judges should avoid projection and ostentation.

The CJ was addressing the LHC in the presentation ceremony of car delivery on self finance basis. Judges of LHC stationed at Principal Seat and officers also graced the occasion.

The CJ said the requirements of life of the judges were the same whether they belong to High Court or the district judiciary. “We all do the noble job of providing justice to the aggrieved people and earn their well wishes,” he said, adding that the judges should serve the people by rendering qualitative judgments. The CJ also gave key of car Honda City to the District & Sessions Judge Abdul Sattar who was the first candidate under the car financing scheme.

LHC has entered into an agreement with MCB Bank Limited for car financing facility to the officers of LHC from Grade 17 and above and the judicial officers. This step will enable the judicial officers, having no conveyance of their own, to reach their place of duty in a dignified and respectable manner. A competitive markup which is 3 percent less than the market rate will be charged by this package. Under the car financing facility, the officers will pay price of car of their choice in easy installments. The period of car finance facility will range from 1 to 7 years. LHC had sought applications from the officers and uptil now 50 officers had opted for this facility. Earlier, LHC held parleys with almost all the leading banks and after long deliberations MCB was selected. All officers are eligible for the facility except the ones having less than one year service at their credit or those facing regular enquiry. The officers can apply for one car only and that too would be primarily for official use. Applicants opting for this facility will have to seek prior permission from the LHC and open salary account with MCB Bank Ltd.

Registrar Sardar Ahmad Naeem, said that by keen interest and consistent efforts of the High Court, perks and privileges as well as working and living environment of the district judiciary had been enhanced.

Ali Mubashar Kazmi, representative MCB Bank, termed the scheme a best credit facility and said MCB is also opening its branch at LHC premises.
