The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) ‘jiyalas’ have cautioned Sindh chief minister and other senior ministers of the provincial cabinet of hurling shoes at them “from any direction” in public congregations during the party’s election campaigns, Pakistan Today has learnt.

The jiyalas, who are said to be devoted and sincere with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership and even faced the worst kind of crisis during dictatorships, issued the warning after being fed up with what they called “bad governance” and continued ignorance from the leadership.

The warning came after a high-profile meeting of local PPP leaders that included the district presidents of the PPP, People’s Student Federation and the People’s Doctor Forum, held the other day at an undisclosed location.

The coordinator to slain PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto for student affairs, Dr Mohammad Ali Thalho, presided over the meeting that was attended among others by Munir Jalbani, Moazzam Qureshi, Zulfikar Lashari, Aijaz Abro, Zulfiqar Shahani, Abdul Sami Gaad and Hussain Jhatial

In the meeting, it was decided that Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq and Law Minister Ayaz Soomro would be given a reception of hurling shoes after the dissolution of the assemblies. However, the future course of action would be announced before the assemblies were dissolved.

“Yes, the CM, and few ministers, including Pir Mazhar and Ayaz Soomro, will face the same situation as happened with former chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim in the Sindh Assembly. The people of Sindh will remember multiple shoes hurled by jiyalas on their leaders, who have no time for workers,” Dr Mohammad Ali, who worked as a coordinator for Benazir Bhutto, told Pakistan Today.

“We will announce the future line of action against the PPP at a press conference after the assemblies are dissolved,” he added.

Pakistan Today repeatedly tried to approach Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, however, his cell phone remained unattended.
