Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has introduced an interest free loan scheme for the welfare of poor and needy people by allocating an amount of Rs five million to loan to Small and medium enterprises (SME)s.
President ICCI Mr Zafar Bakhtawari, made these remarks while sharing views with Dr Ajmad Sabiq, Founder and CEO of Akhuwat Foundation which is working for alleviating poverty by empowering socially and economically marginalized families through interest free microfinance and by harnessing entrepreneurial potential, capacity building and social guidance.
ICCI President said that “it is our social and national responsibility to help the poor segment of the society as businessmen and industrialist have resources to enable poor families to become self reliant. He was of the view that instead of relying on the Government for every thing, masses should support organizations such as Akhuwat Foundation which is institutionalizing the spirit of brotherhood, compassion, and volunteerism.
Mr Bakhtawari appreciated the role of Akhuwat Foundation for promoting as a viable model and a broad-based solution for poverty alleviation. He also lauded the role of Dr Ajmad Sabiq for evolving Qard-e-Hasana into a sustainable, growth-oriented and replicable organization.
