Violence continues unabated, 11 more killed

At least 11 people including two policemen and six workers of religious and political parties were killed in the ongoing violence here during the last 24 hours.
Some assassins killed a policeman Nadeem Baloch in Manghopir. Another cop, Iftikhar, on duty in SITE Area was gunned down in SITE Metroville. The deceased was resident of Orangi Town.
Some armed miscreants killed Owais who was standing outside his house located in Phool Wali Gali of Gulbahar. His fellows Naveed and Sohail were injured in the firing incident.
According to police sources, the injured and the deceased belonged to a religious party. As the body was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, the infuriated people ran amok and smashed the glass panes of the wards.
Meantime, gunshots were fired at a shop in Metroville where Dilfaraz was killed on the spot while Abu Bakr succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. Both the deceased hailed from a religious party.
The city area of New Karachi also witnessed the killing of Kashif Tahir, who was an operative of a religious party. A political activist, Maqsud, was assassinated in Khwaja Ajmer Nagri.
Two other people were killed in Korangi-5 and Gurumandir.
Meantime, body of a seven-year girl was recovered near Karachi University. The girl was abducted and tortured to death.
Meanwhile, at least 11 suspects were arrested during an overnight targeted operation in Manghopir and Surjani Town and firearms were also seized from their possession.
According to police sources, a targeted operation was launched in some areas of Manghopir and Surjani Town on a tip-off. Police arrested 11 miscreants during the action late night.
As many as eight TT pistols and a repeater were recovered from their custody. Police said the arrested people have been shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation.
