Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have authorised spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan for peace negotiations with PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman and JI chief Munawar Hasan.
The Taliban militants had recently made a conditional offer for dialogue with the government, demanding that the three aforementioned politicians be named as guarantors for the talks. All three party chiefs had responded positively to the Taliban offer, and stressed that holding talks was important for peace in the country.
Speaking to media outlets from an undisclosed location, the TTP spokesman said that the decision to appoint him was made in a meeting of commanders in the outskirts of North Waziristan.
He said the TTP council had given him mandate to contact these leaders and hold negotiations with them at any appropriate time and place.
