Jamat-i-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hassan on Saturday announced to participate in the all parties conference convened by Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in order to discuss the peace prospect in the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA).
The decision was made by JI after the visit of JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman to their headquarters ‘Mansoora’ in Lahore, a metropolitan of Pakistan.
Talking to media along with JI chief, Fazlur Rehman said that the tribesmen had formed a jirga and asked the political parties of the country to support them in order to initiate a peace process in the tribal areas.
“We should respect the peace offer of Taliban and start negotiations with them,” Fazal said while responding to a query on Taliban peace offer adding that early or late we had no choice instead of kicking off peace talks.
“Parliament has rejected the Musharraf’s policies of supporting terrorism,” he added.
Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said a conspiracy to get elections postponed has failed.
Fazlur Rehman said election commission should not be made controversial to ensure free and fair elections.
He further said that his party wanted to play a role for bringing peace to the country and now the government and all other stake holders should support us to initiate the peace process.
He said his party has invited all the political parties to attend an all parties conference being organized in Islamabad on Thursday next to discuss the issues of peace and security.
Speaking on the occasion‚ Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Syed Munawwar Hassan said his party has accepted the invitation of JUI-F to attend the all parties’ conference.
Earlier‚ Maulana Fazl ur Rehman condoled the death of former Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed with Syed Munawwar Hassan.
Shame on you Mr. Munnawar. Instead of joining JUI-F for peace conference your organinization should be fighting for the release of former JI member who is fighting a death sentence in Bangladesh for supporing the State of Pakisanl. Shame on you JI, I am prettys sure Mr. Madodid would not have tolerated that.
