A division bench of the Supreme Court on Friday ordered registration of a case against police officials who had arrested Efroze Pharma Director Nadir Feroze despite bail.

The bench, headed by Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, passed the order on an application moved by the wife of Nadir Feroze which was converted into a petition against the illegal arrest of Nadir despite bail from a sessions court in the PIC drug reaction case.

On last hearing, the bench sought a report from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after the police submitted that it had arrested Nadir Feroze as he was trying to flee and produced an air ticket as proof.

As proceedings started, the FIA officials informed the bench that the accused had not purchased a ticket and it was bogus.

The court, after hearing the arguments, ordered a case against police officials including DSP Dawood and Inspector Abid Shah besides Rs 50,000 fine.

The bench directed the police to complete the challan against the accused within 15 days and submit it before the trial court.
