The new United States Secretary of State, John Kerry, gave his first major public speech since being sworn into office, and called for building cooperation with other forces to fight the Iranian threat.

Speaking at the University of Virginia, he said that if the United States joins with other countries to reduce the Iranian threat, it means building cooperation, it means the US does not fight alone. That means seeing to it that Iran never succeeds in having weapons that threaten US allies and their interests.

Kerry will shortly be leaving for a ten-day trip to the MIddle East.
