The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Wednesday warned owners of CD shops and Internet cafes in Rashakai area of Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to either switch their businesses or face consequences.

In pamphlets distributed in local markets, including the Fazal-e-Rabi market, an outfit called ‘Tehreek-e-Taliban Mujahid Tehreek’ ordered closure of net cafes and CD shops.

The text read that this was the last warning for the closure of net cafes and CD shops, adding that the shop owners would be responsible for any damages.

Panic gripped the city after the distribution of the pamphlets. Several CD shop and net cafe owners closed down their businesses.

Locals alleged that the police was privy to the situation in the area and had asked them to stay tight-lipped and follow Taliban orders.

Earlier this month, in the locality of Shireen Kothay, an explosive device was set outside a CD shop and net café in Fazal Market. Seventeen CD shops and a book shop were badly damaged in the bombing.

Meanwhile, police said no handbills had been distributed or pasted in the markets, adding that they had not ordered anyone to close their businesses in the area.

  1. The coward beardos are in action again and are doing what they do best, that is, intimidating the unarmed and innocent civilians, destroying their properties and their livelihood, etc. The police in Pakistan is not trained to deal with these kind of thugs. These beardos are not invincible and can be defeated if the will is there.
