Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) have decided to field joint candidates in the general elections.
This was decided at a meeting between senior leaders of the two parties on Wednesday. Per details, PML-Q and PPP leaders held a meeting at the residence of PML-Q chief Shujaat Hussain during which political strategy regarding the upcoming general elections was discussed.
Detailed discussion on electoral alliance and the constituency-wise political situation was discussed during the meeting. Leaders from both sides decided to bring joint electoral candidates, attempting to enter the political field with full force. Talking on the occasion, Shujaat Hussain and Parvez Elahi said this electoral alliance reflects a new era in national politics which will establish the tradition of moving together in politics. They said the alliance had established that national interest was over and above political rivalry explicitly claiming that their politics was solely based on national interest.
The PML-Q leaders further said that in the public interest they had converted a political opposition into an electoral alliance, one guided by the forces of reconciliation, justice and progress that will transfer its positive effects to the people soon.
The PML-Q respresentatives included Shujaat Hussain, senior central leader and Deputy Prime Minister Parvez Elahi, Central Information Secretary Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Industry Muhammad Basharat Raja, PML-Q Punjab General Secretary Zaheeruddin Khan, Moonis Elahi, Ahmad Yar Heraj, Khushro Bakhtiar and Nasir Mahmud Gill. The PPP delegation included PPP Punjab President Mian Manzur Ahmad Wattoo, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Rana Farooq Saeed, Haji Nawaz Khokhar and Haider Zaman Qureshi.
