Judicial inquiry into torture, bribe case against Adiala Jail officials ordered

Rawalpindi District and Sessions Judge Syed Mahroof Ahmad Ali on Wednesday ordered a judicial inquiry against the officials of Adiala Jail in the case of physical torture and receiving of bribe from a prisoner.
Adiala Jail officials allegedly received Rs 0.5 million from Sardar Zulfiqar, an inmate imprisoned for the last 11 years under the Passport Act.
Civil Judge Qaiser Hussain, judicial officer, initiated the inquiry in this regard.
The complainant in the petition appraised the court that he had purchased some property.
“Jail officials took Rs 0.5 million for the verification of the property documents but later they refused to verify it. Instead, they severely tortured me and locked me up in a torture cell when I asked them to return my money,” he said.
He prayed the court to order the Adiala Jail officials to repay his money.
