BA moves condemnation resolution against Shia killing

Condemning the recent Shia killing, the Balochistan Assembly lawmakers on Wednesday said if the incident occurred during their regime, they would have been in “hot water”.

They alleged that former Balochistan chief minister Aslam Raisani’s government was sacked on the directions of one corrupt bureaucrat which was regrettable, adding that innocent people were being killed in spite of the imposition of governor’s rule.

They said this while debating on a condemnation resolution against the Hazara town incident during the BA session which met with Speaker Matiullah Agha in the chair.

Former minister and leader of JUI-F Abdul Wasay, ANP leader Zamarak Khan, BNP-A leader Ahsan Shah and others denounced the Shia killing and said that external elements were active in Balochistan. “This is in fact a big tragedy and those responsible should be brought to the book,” they stressed.
The house adopted the condemnation resolution unanimously; however, the lawmakers continued criticising the imposition of governor’s rule.

Criticising Balochistan Governor Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, Wasay said the governor was issuing merely statements against failure of agencies, adding that law and order situation of Balochistan was being deteriorated through an international plan. He said that political and religious parties had rendered sacrifices for the sake of democracy and led the movement but they were being declared criminals.

The JUI-F leader said that they were also sad over Hazara town incident, but in reaction raids were being conducted on religious seminaries, adding that there was not a single terrorist in seminaries. He said it was a wrong impression that the seminaries were harbouring terrorists.

During the session, the members also expressed their reservations on handing over Gwadar Port to China and stressed that they would only agree on agreements if the people of Balochistan were given equal status. They said they would raise voice for the legitimate rights of the people of Balochistan.

Separately, former minister Ali Madad Jattak strongly condemned his detention by the Frontier Corps and said that harassing elected representatives of people was not a good move. He said that his house was raided when the governor’s rule was imposed, adding that now when the governor’s rule was being lifted the same tactic was being used.
