The inaugural Servis Super 15’s League will be played here from February 24 at DHA rugby stadium.
Top four Rugby clubs of the country will feature in the event which is being supported by International Rugby board.
Lahore Rugby foot ball club, Islamabad Jinns, DHA Rugby foot ball club and Army rugby club are the participating teams which will are all set to display their talent for the entertainment of the lovers of the game.
“The event will be played on round robin league and a high quality rugby is likely to be witnessed”, said a spokesman of PRU here on Tuesday.
He said rugby is getting good popularity in Pakistan, specially in Punjab where youth is taking keen interest to take it up as a sport compared to cricket and hockey and other games.
“We have identified young rugby talent from Multan, Muzaffargarh, Lodhran and Sahiwal and even a ladies rugby team is playing rugby in a small city Lodhran.
“This event will help in further developing the game,” he said.
First match at 12.00 noon and 2nd match at 2.00 pm. Matches played on every week end.
Oops, I read this from a link from another website because it said rugby league, so I thought it was about the superior 13 man rugby code..Ah well, I suppose union will do what it can to attract players on false pretenses..I advise readers of this article to watch the ESL or the NRL when it starts in 2 weeks for real rugby..
I have to agree with Coastie, after just watching the World Club Challenge, it's refreshing to finally see a game that consists of actual rugby rather than rucking and kicking. If you want to see actual rugby played go watch Rugby League, the greatest game of all!
