Supporting the Hazara community’s demand for army to take over Quetta, Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Tuesday advised the army to “come forward and save the country”.
Talking to journalists, Qadri warned that the current wave of terrorism in Quetta and the rest of the country could result in the division of the country, saying that only the army could protect the nation.
Qadri also lashed out at the judiciary, saying it had ordered the release of hundreds of terrorists who were involved in the worst terror activities in the country.
He expressed deep grief and sorrow over the deaths of Hazara people in a bomb attack in Quetta. He said that those responsible for the heinous activity were barbarians and a blot on the face and conscience of humanity. He said the unending wave of targeted killings and bomb blasts against the Hazara community was a carefully planned conspiracy against the integrity of Pakistan. He said the killing of innocent men, women and children was a national tragedy.
Qadri announced that his party – the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) – would participate in the sit-ins at each and every city of the country to share the grief and sorrow of the bereaved families. He demanded of the government to wake up to the challenge of terrorism and take urgent measures to protect the people from dastardly attacks.
He said that those who perpetrated these crimes against humanity should be brought to justice and made an example for others. He directed PAT workers to take part in the protest sit-in organised by the Shia Muslims across the country.
