Russia’s Ambassador to Pakistan Andrey S Budnik on Tuesday delivered a letter from President Vladimir Putin expressing condolences over the loss of lives in the terrorist attack in Quetta.

President Zardari’s spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar said President Putin described the terrorist attack as ‘barbaric’ and condemned it while terming it “a criminal act” to destabilise the situation in Pakistan.

“We also support the efforts of the government in the fight against terrorism and extremism,” the letter said.

In his letter, the Russian president also conveyed sympathy and support to the families of those killed and wished speedy recovery to all those injured.

President Zardari thanked the ambassador and asked him to convey his thanks and appreciation to the Russian president for his gesture.

President Zardari said Pakistan considered Russia a source of stability and peace both at regional and global level and underlined the need to further strengthen relations and increased contacts at the highest level. The president also hosted lunch for the Russian envoy.
