The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Tuesday filed a reference with the Punjab Election Commissioner against six of its members of Punjab Assembly (MPAs), who defected to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Raja Riaz, Parliamentary Leader Zulfikar Gondal and Deputy Parliamentary Leader Shaukat Basra presented the reference to the Punjab Election Commissioner against the six MPAs formerly associated with the PPP.
Talking to the media, Raja Riaz said the Punjab Assembly speaker had not yet accepted the MPAs’ resignation, adding that they had taken oath on the Holy Quran to complete their full term, and that they would be disqualified forever.
