The growing relations between Pakistan and the US are a factor of stability in the region, Islamabad’s Ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman said on Tuesday.
She was talking to a group of Pakistan Armed Forces officers, led by Joint Staff Director General Lt Gen Muhammad Asif, who called on her. The delegation is visiting the US for regular consultations between the defence communities of the two countries.
Sherry said bilateral defence ties were on an upward trajectory and both the sides were successfully cooperating on a range of issues, including counterterrorism, and counterinsurgency.
She said Pakistan was committed to facilitating peace and stability in Afghanistan as the US drew down.
Asif briefed the ambassador on recent developments in bilateral defence cooperation. He praised the role played by Ambassador sherry in highlighting Pakistan’s point of view and promoting high-level contacts between the two countries.
