Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday accused President Asif Ali Zardari and his party members of massive corruption during the last five years, saying that the government’s “poor policies” had destroyed several industries and other sectors of social development.
Addressing a public meeting at Jampur Sports Stadium, Shahbaz said it was unfortunate that Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) Chairman Tauqir Sadiq who had plundered Rs 80 billion public wealth was issued a new passport to flee from the country.
He said that the federal government’s slogan of Bahawalpur Janoobi Punjab province was only a political gimmick. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was the first to get a resolution approved unanimously from the provincial assembly for the restoration of Bahawalpur province and setting up of South Punjab.
Shahbaz said the resolution also stated that a national commission should be formed to settle issues like distribution of water, geographical division and other matters. “Instead of acting upon the resolution, the federal government raised the slogan of BJP province to stage a political drama,” he added.
