A few flights were cancelled, while the schedule of others were changed as passengers could not reach airports due to road blockades and traffic jams caused by scores of continued sit-ins in various parts of major cities in protest against the Quetta carnage.
In Karachi, the main sit-in was being staged for the last 38 hours at Old Numaish on the call of the Shia Ulema Council.
Addressing the participants of the sit-in, clerics said there was writ of the government in the country and held the FC and law enforcement agencies responsible for the carnage.
A large number of men, women and children were participating in the sit-ins being staged at Teen Talwar, Clifton, Ancholi, AbbasTown, Ayesha Manzil, Five Star Chowrangi, Rizvia Society, Safora Goth, and Malir.
Almost all main roads including the Shahrah-e-Faisal remained blocked due to the sits-ins which hampered the traffic and made it difficult for the passengers to reach the Karachi airport that led to the cancellation of the flights.
Sources in airlines said several domestic and internal flights had been either delayed or cancelled.
Train services were also affected in Peshawar, Karachi, and Lahore.
In Islamabad, the sit in at Faizabad crossing continued on Tuesday. Traffic plying between the twin cities was completely blocked. People could not reach their destinations.
The authorities remained least bothered and did not try to negotiate with the organisers of sit-ins.
Lahore was cut of from rest of the country due to these protests on the main roads of the city.
