Contempt of court: Fasih Bokhari submits reply in SC

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari on Tuesday submitted his reply in the Supreme Court after removing objections raised by the registrar of the apex court.

The letter was submitted by the NAB Chairman’s solicitor Naveed Rasool Mirza. Bokhari stated in the reply that he believes in the supremacy of the judiciary and he cannot even think about committing contempt of court. He mentioned his sacrifices for the cause of an independent judiciary and said that he raised his voice against Musharraf’s actions against the superior judges. He further said that he refused to obey the illegal order of the then Chief of Army Staff for a military takeover. Bokhari further told the court that his letter written to President Asif Ali Zardari was a secret communiqué and he didn’t know how it was made public.

The chief justice replied that how it was possible that a secret letter could be revealed, adding that what would have happen if the people would came to know about the content of the letter?

Replying to CJP’s remark that the letter was issued to media entities by the NAB, Bokhari said that he had to issue the letter as the contents were broadcasted on the television screens and if he would not have had issued the letter then media could have had broadcasted false details.
