President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday confirmed nomination of Justice Nisar Muhammad Shaikh, Justice Nadeem Akhtar and Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui as permanent judges of the Sindh High Court.
President’s spokesman Farhatullah Babar said the president took the decision on the advice of the prime minister.
He said the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment in Superior Courts considered the above nominations, received from Judicial Commission of Pakistan, on February 7 and 11.
He said the Parliamentary Committee unanimously confirmed the name of Justice Nisar Muhammad Shaikh, SHC additional judge, for appointment as permanent judge of the high court.
However, the committee could not take any decision regarding the remaining two nominees of Judicial Commission, Justice Nadeem Akhtar and Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui.
He said under clause 12 of Article 175A, the committee on receipt of nomination from the commission might confirm the nominee by majority of its total membership within 14 days, failing which the nominations shall be deemed to have been confirmed.
The committee forwarded the nominations to the prime minister.
The president, acting upon the advice of the prime minister, confirmed the nominees as permanent judges of the Sindh High Court.
