A letter has been sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as well as the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim to take into account a recent advertisement posted in the press regarding the distribution of 27,500 plots to poor people in Sind.

The letter which was drafted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaaf Secretary General Arif Alvi categorically stated that the only purpose of this distribution was a way for the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) to increase their vote bank.

There was information earlier that the PPP intended to distribute 50,000 plots in December to its Jayalas in the month before the elections but here was no evidence to suggest that any such activity was to take place. After the publishing of the advert allotting the 27,500 plots, the ECP should take the matter into consideration and take action the letter stated

Alvi accused the PPP of using such tactics solely for political purposes as the elections were around the corner

Alvi added that the ECP should stop this activity and that the project should be left for the next government to be carried out with much more transparency.
