22 trains cancelled after countrywide protests against Quetta carnage

The Pakistan Railways has cancelled the operation of several trains after protests against the Quetta carnage in which over 80 people were killed.

According to a notification issued here on Monday, 11-Up Hazara Express, 27-Up Shalimar Express, 13-Up Awam Express, 45-Up Pakistan Express, 9-Up Allama Iqbal Express, 303-Up Business Express, 41-Up Karakorum Express, 15-UP+17-Up Millat+Karachi Express (mixed), 7-Up Tezgam Express, 43-Up Burraq Express from Karachi did not run on Monday.

The 28-Down Shalimar Express, 304-Down Business Express, 42-Down Karakarum Express, 16-Down Millat express+18-Down Karachi Express (mixed), 44-Down Burraq Express trains will not operate from Lahore on Tuesday while trains from Rawalpindi and Peshawar including 12-Down Hazara Express, 14-Down Awami Express, 46-Down Pakistan Express and 8-Down Tezgam Express will be cancelled on February 20.

Another train 10-Down Allama Iqbal Express from Sialkot will also not operate on Wednesday.

PR sources said it would try to operate trains to Karachi from Peshawar or Lahore but they would stop at Hyderabad if the situation did not allow further operation. However, the trains will be restored according to their schedules after normalisation of the situation.
