Rawalpindi police arrests 27 in crackdown

Rawalpindi Police on Sunday arrested 27 alleged criminals, including five bootleggers, four suspected dacoits and nine gamblers, and seized 1660 grams of hashish, 53 bottles of liquor, three pistols of 30 bore with 10 rounds of ammunition and one 12 bore carbine.

According to police, Waris Khan Police detained Hamad for possessing 1160 grams hashish while Gungmandi police sent arrested Sultan for possessing 14 bottles of liquor. Waris Khan police also arrested Khurram with five bottles of liquor while Usman was detained for possessing five liquor bottles. Gujjar Khan police held Majeed with 24 bottles of liquor while Mandra police recovered five liquor bottles from Irfan.

City police held five persons, Adeel, Rizwan, Babar, Zohaib and Umair who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Others who were arrested were accused of possessing illegal weapons.

Meanwhile, Rattaamral police, on a tip-off, conducted a raid and held four suspected robbers identified as Mudasir, Saeed-ur-Rehman, Phool Shehzad and Raees Khan and seized four 30 bore pistols with 19 rounds of ammunition.

Bunni Bala police raided in Mohalla Akram Bagh and held nine gamblers, Khurram, Kasif, Attique, Adnan, Iftikhar, Zaheer, Waqar, Abid, and Arif. Police recovered the Rs 6, 540 stake money and six mobile phones from their custody.
