Installation of advertisement billboards on high-rise buildings in the jurisdiction of Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) continues in sheer violation of building security by-laws.
The hoarding boards can cause immense damage in case of natural disasters.
According to sources, inspection of the building structure for installation of the signboard was limited to paper work now.
Huge sign boards on plazas and buildings could be seen in thickly populated areas like Raja Bazaar, Iqbal Road, Fawara Chowk, Liaquat Road, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Asghar Mall Road, City Saddar and other areas.
Moreover, towers of telecommunication companies and massive generators were also fixed on the roofs of many shopping plazas and towers in different areas of the city.
Sanaullah Bhutta, a resident, said RTMA officials, provincial government and parliamentarians from the area had been informed about the issue but no effective measures had been taken against the huge hoarding boards and towers.
Residents of the areas demanded Punjab chief minister and the RTMA high-ups to start a campaign against the dangerous billboards and telecommunication towers to save them from any untoward incident.
