DCOs, EDOs directed to accelerate dengue surveillance campaign

Rawalpindi Commissioner Imdadullah Bosal on Sunday directed the District Coordination Officers (DCOs) and Health Executive District Officers (EDOs) to accelerate the dengue surveillance campaign in areas where dengue larva was detected.

An awareness campaign was planned to aware the public about the preventive measures of dengue. The campaign included seminars and walks at tehsil level.

These directives were issued while presiding over a meeting held at Bosal’s office to review the progress of Dengue Surveillance Campaign.

Rawalpindi DCO Saqib Zafar, Chakwal DCO Ahmed Aziz Tarar, Attock DCO Muhammad Usman, Jhelum DCO Mirza Mehmood ul Hasan, Rawalpindi EDO Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal, Chakwal EDO Dr Muhammad Nasir, Attock EDO Dr Musarrat Hussain, Jhelum EDO, Rawalpindi Health DO Dr Khalid Randhawa and Additional Commissioner Ch Habibullah also attended the meeting.

The commissioner directed the concerned authorities that information counters for dengue patients and their attendants should be set up in every District Headquarters Hospital.

“Banners inscribed with preventive measures to control dengue for the information of public should be placed at main roads in the cities,” he said.

“A complete inspection of junkyards, petrol pumps, CNG stations and under construction buildings should be carried out and if the presence of larva is detected in the fire fighting equipments therein, the owners should be fined. Lectures regarding dengue preventive measures in the morning assemblies of schools, for the awareness of the students, should also be arranged,” he said.

The commissioner directed the DCOs to instruct their ACs to supervise the dengue campaign in their respective areas and the community should be involved to keep their houses and residential areas clean to counter dengue.

The DCOs and health EDOs also briefed the meeting about the dengue surveillance campaign in their respective districts and tehsils.
