Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said that President Zardari and his cronies had paid no attention to people’s problems during the last five years and had been engaged only in corruption and plunder.
Talking to assembly members from various districts, he said that the president had only aggravated people’s problems instead of solving them.
Furthermore, he said the corrupt rulers would face the wrath of the people in the upcoming elections and Pakistan would soon see a genuine and sincere leadership.
Moreover, he said that holding general elections on time was vital for the security and stability of the country. Therefore, he said, there were elements in the country that were afraid of facing the wrath of the people and meeting their ultimate end during the electoral process.
He claimed that masses were fed up of corrupt rulers and wanted to get rid of them.
The chief minister said that corrupt rulers had only given “gifts” of poverty, unemployment, terrorism and darkness to the people.
Moreover, he said that those who were loyal to “foreign masters” had no right to talk about change and electoral reforms in the country.
He alleged that these elements did not want continuity of the democratic process and desire postponement of elections. He urged citizens to derail any plans to delay the elections.
He said that service to the people was the central aim of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) politics.
Shahbaz added that during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif as prime minister, Pakistan made rapid progress in the economic sector and a number of projects of public welfare, like the motorway, were completed.
He said if the masses expressed their confidence in the PML-N in the general elections, the process of development would be resumed and the nation would be rid of unscheduled loadshedding, energy crises and unemployment.
