PPP always prioritised FATA’s development: PM

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Pakistan People’s Party leadership has always accorded primacy to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in its policies and programmes.

He expressed these views while talking to Minister for Communication Arbab Aalamgir and Minister for SAFRON Abbas Khan Afridi who called on the prime minister in Islamabad on Saturday.

The prime minister said the extension of Political Parties Act to FATA was a practical manifestation of PPP leadership’s resolve to help it become the part of national mainstream.

During the meeting‚ the prime minister applauded the sacrifices‚ courage and patriotism of the people of Tribal Areas in difficult times.

He directed the minister for communication to initiate projects of infrastructure development for the economic uplift of FATA and also ensure the timely completion of those which were already in the pipeline.

Dr Arbab informed the prime minister about implementation status of the ongoing projects undertaken by the National Highway Authority (NHA) in FATA.

Ashraf directed both federal ministers to sensitise the public with the achievements of the democratic government and motivate the party workers as the general elections were around the corner.

He reiterated the resolve of his government that the elections would be held on time in a fair‚ free and transparent manner.
