Realtor Malik Riaz plans to build the world’s tallest building in Karachi in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Group.

According to a press statement by Bahria Town, an agreement to this effect was signed between the former chairman and now consultant of the Bahria Town group and Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, chairman Abu Dhabi group, Union National Bank and United Bank Limited.

Under the agreement $45 billion would be invested in Pakistan for various construction projects. Out of the total investment, $10 billion would be invested in Islamabad and Lahore whereas the remaining sum would be invested in Sindh. These projects also include the construction of tallest building of the world (taller than BurjKhalifa, Dubai) in Karachi. Moreover, the project encompasses Sports city, Educational and Medical City, International City and Media City. The project also includes the construction of miniatures of Seven Wonders of the World. These projects will employ more than 2.5 million people and will boost more than 55 industries like cement, bricks, iron, steel and glass. Moreover these projects are expected to represent all the social classes of the society and middle-class and lower-middle class will have equal representation. The agreement will have a revolutionary impact on not only the Pakistani economy but also the tourism of the country and will be a milestone in reviving the lights of Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Nahyan said that Bahria Town was a credible, respected and authentic name in the real estate sector across the world. “I am genuinely happy that in this historic project of Pakistan we are working with the visionary Malik Riaz, this guarantees that not only the project will be delivered beyond our expectations but also before time. We will Inshallah be welcoming first residents in next 3-4 years,” he said.

Malik Riaz said that it was a matter of great pride for him that Sheikh Nahyan had selected Bahria Town for making the dream come true for a modern and developed nation with this historical project.

A distinguished feature of this project is the utilization of seawater to produce electricity. The projects will have their own grid stations. Moreover, a separate modern water treatment plant will be established to convert seawater into drinking water.

  1. Mashallah i am very happy.

Pakistan ki bhi kismat jaag gai. Inshallah.

Promote jobs, tourism, industry & everything else.

  2. I so wish Karachi could get this but the corrupt Malik Riaz & MQM & PPP should be brought to justice, otherwise nothing is going to change. Remind me of the Ryugyong Hotel which is empty to this day (google it)

  3. build the tallest tower in a country where there is no electricity, gas, petrol, water???? lol … the country which also happens to be the second most corrupt country in the world ?? .. if this tower does ever gets completed .. its gonna fall down in a ruble due to "bad" construction qualities and standards ..

  4. In past annoucement of mega project were made but all were gone in waster paper basket e.g. I.T City near Civic Centre etc. etc. My suggestion to Mr. Riaz Malik is to made investment in Industries, Electricty, Gas etc. if he really make people healthy and wealthy.

    • Electricity and Gas is Govt responsibility, Let Govt should do something!. This project will bring jobs to millions of people which will definitely bring prosperity to local Pakistanis

    • Industries, Electricty, Gas etc.are already monopolized by the politicians, making them REALLY "healthy and wealthy"…

  5. During the last govt of PML-Q , a similar project was announced to construct a 42 story building in Lahore over Ferozpur Road near Kalma Chowk and ground breaking ceremony was given a wide media coverage but no progress was seen after the elections. This is basically an election stunt before the elections to satisfy the people of Pakistan that the present govt has managed to bring a lot of foreign investment in Pakistan. Do you all agree to this claim——-NO——-because in the prevailing law and order situation of Karachi, no one will invest a single penny in Karachi in particular and rest of the whole country in general.

    • " and ground breaking ceremony was given a wide media coverage but no progress was seen after the elections."

Well progress was made and a giant hole still stands there today, where millions gallons of fresh water collects to dengue mosquitoes throw orgy parties every day 😉

  6. Do you believe on proposed mega project for Karachi? or it is merely a Party slogan for winning the election) . In present situation no body can dare to invest a huge amount in Pakistan.

  7. Another MOU just like the fake Cathay oil company agreement to explore billion dollar in thar coal during PML(Q) and MOSHE govt.

  8. This is good news. We need not be compulsive pessimists. People including media are doing no service by promoting pessimism all around. Of course, there are many bad things which need to be corrected. At the same time, there are many redeeming points. I would appeal to all critics to please ponder over their own standard of living. Do they really believe their standard of living has gone down during last five, ten or fifteen years? I am sure their answer would be in the negative. Usually, the problem is that we need more and more overnight and only look towards people more fortunate than ourselves.

  9. Worlds tallest building in Karachi .Where the residents of the building will be kidnapped and couple of them target killed daily. Pakistan will create world record of finding bori bund lash on the roof of tallest building of the world . lol .It sounds like wearing shirt, tie and coat but no pants. lol.

  10. Malik Riaz who has been the centre of one of the biggest scams, robbing so many people is now a 'respectable' person who is being entrusted with this project. It is strange that he and his accomplices are not behind bars.

  11. I wish its true. If Malik Riaz can do so, we should repect him. This should have been done by Govt, but Malik is doing in private capacity.
I like Malik Riaz as he has delivered something. If there was anyone else in his place, he would have left Pak for good with all sum of people in his foriegn bank account. He is True pakistani. Long Live Malik Riaz, Long Live Bahria Town.

  12. may be the tallest building will help to push corrupt officials, politicians from the terrace. what is so great about building a tallest building when you could provide health care. Not even 100% polio vaccination .

    wasteful expenditure . stop it

  13. this tallest building, if it is real should be in Lahore or islamabad, Karachi is a killing spot no body will like to invest in Karachi

  14. lol… taliban will get new place to show their bombing skills + how is pakistan planning to power it up??? lol

  15. If the so called politicians and the business community are serious of taking the country forward, instead of erecting tallest towers in the world, they should be looking at how advanced nations moved forward. The best investments they can make are 1) linking cities towns with high speed rail links, that will not only provide jobs but also people from different part of the country together… movement of people and goods. 2) Alternative energy … with $10B investment in windmill technology, you can provide electricity to each and every home in the country. 3) Education…FREE and Mandatory Education to upto 12th for all 4) Free health care if someone is making less than say 2 lakhs a year.

There should be name and shame and lock in and confiscate policies is some one does not pay appropriate taxes and only those can come in power who have never late in paying taxes and have at least Masters. We can not and should not compete with Arab countries in building highest towers but with advanced countries where education, innovation, equality for all, free healthcare and education is the norm…. I pray everyday for my Pakistan and love to see it to be a model country for the world,,, Inshallah

  16. did u know what is the project . frist see the detail of project and talk.they will also make energy.looooooooooooollllllllllll

  17. HH Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al-Nahayan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Reports that Dhabi Contracting, a unit of Abu Dhabi Group, has made financial commitments to a 15-year real estate project in Pakistan valued at US$45bn by its Pakistani developer are untrue and the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two parties has been cancelled, HH Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al-Nahayan said.
"There was never a financial commitment," Sheikh Nahayan, who is chairman of Abu Dhabi Group, told Arabian Business. "Yes I did," he added when asked if he had cancelled the MOU.
Pakistani businessman Malik Riaz Hussain, touted by media in the country as one of Pakistan's richest figures, had claimed Abu Dhabi Group would invest billions of dollars to build residential properties on an island in Karachi, that would include the tallest building in the world.
Abu Dhabi Contracting had signed a non-binding preliminary agreement as an indication of interest to cooperate with Bahria Town Pakistan to provide technical support and assistance to the project.
