A Pakistan Army soldier, who had mistakenly crossed the Line of Control (LoC) along the disputed Kashmir region, was killed on Thursday due to firing from the Indian side. Security sources said the soldier, identified as Ikhlaq, had lost his way and inadvertently crossed the LoC in Ratta sector in Jammu and Kashmir. According to army officials, the dead soldier was a resident of the Kallar Syedan area of Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, the Indian Army accepted the request made by the Pakistan Army to return the body of the deceased soldier. The request was made by the office of the Director General of Military Operations, Pakistan. Such incidents had happened on both sides in the past and were sorted out mutually, officials of the DGMO’s office said. The incident occurred as the two sides traded fresh charges of ceasefire violations along the 742-km LoC.
