Eight more killed as violence escalates

KARACHI: At least eight people including a bridegroom became the fatal victims of violent crimes across the metropolis.
According to details, armed men opened fire on a wedding car near Raxer Bridge in Old Golimar area of the city. The bridegroom and one other person were killed in the attack, the report added.
The attack also left many others wounded, who were later taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). Police rushed to the area and cordoned off the area to investigate the crime scene. They said armed assailants opened fire on the vehicle and managed to flee.
The body of 25-year-old Nawaz Ali, son of Dilbar Khan and a resident of Khokhrapar, was found from Memon Goth within the limits of Memon Goth Police Station. The dead body was later moved to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
Police said the victim was kidnapped from Khokhrapar area late night and later his body was found from Ali Town, Memon Goth early in the morning. The victim had a single bullet wound in his head.
In another similar incident, 40-year-old Syed Ansar Jafferi, son of Syed Murtaza Jaffari and a resident of Qasba Colony, was killed when unidentified armed men opened fire at him near Baloch Hotel within the precincts of Orangi Town Police Station.
In a separate incident, 35-year-old Muhammad Asghar, son of Shan, was gunned down by unidentified armed men near Korangi Darul Uloom, Sector No 28, within the limits of Awami Colony Police Station. The body was moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to undergo medico-legal formalities. Police said Asghar was an employee of Al-Karam Textile Mills and lived with his brother.

The police further said that the victim received two bullets in his upper torso. The victim hailed from Azad Kashmir, they added.
Similarly, 45-year-old Muhammad Iqbal, son of Muhammad Asim and a resident of Musa Colony, was killed in a firing incident by unidentified armed men near Sharifabad Railway Crossing, Liaquatabad Town, within the precincts of Sharifabad Police Station. The victim received a bullet in his head and was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment where he breathed his last.
Police said the victim received a single bullet in his head and died at hospital during treatment. Meanwhile, 35-year-old Qadir Ghulam Sarwar, son of Allah Wasaya, was killed when unidentified armed men opened fire at him near Al-Noor Society, Azizabad within the precincts of Samanabad Police Station. The body was later taken to ASH to undergo postmortem.
Police said the victim had received one bullet in his face and had died on the spot. They said Qadir used to teach Quran in a private school in mentioned area.
In yet another violent incident, 25-year-old Muhammad Samiullah, son of Musa and a resident of Pathan Colony, was killed when unknown assailants opened fire at him near Valika Hospital within the jurisdiction of SITE-A Police Station.
Police said the victim received two bullets and hailed from Swat.
Separately, the body of a man, bearing torture marks was found from Abdullah Shah Ghazi Goth, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, within the jurisdiction of Sachal Police Station. The body was shifted to JPMC for autopsy. Police said the victim was stabbed to death by unidentified men.
Meanwhile, the body of a drug addict man, aged around 35, was found from Paan Mandi within the jurisdiction of Risala Police Station. The body was moved to CHK for medico-legal formalities.
Rescue sources said he might have died due to an overdose of drugs. The dead body was later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification after completion of legal formalities.
Furthermore, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of traffic police Bagh Ali, son of Iqbal and a resident of Pirabad, was injured in a road mishap near Abdullah College, North Nazimabad within the limits of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan Police Station. The injured was taken to ASH for treatment, where his condition was stated to be out of danger.
Moreover, 30-year-old Shahzaib, son of Rasool Bux, was wounded in firing by unknown attackers near Bichho Bakery, Malir Town. The injured was rushed to JPMC for treatment and his condition was stated to be stable.
