Being a judge is not job, it is a way of life: LHC judge

Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Ijazul Ahsan on Saturday said that being a judge is not just a job; it is a way of life that requires unwavering commitment.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of a capacity building course for judicial magistrates at the Punjab Judicial Academy, he said that being assigned with the task of upholding the law was not easy and had a power attached to it that must be exercised with caution. He further said that upholding the law was no ordinary job and required commitment and dedication.

Moreover, he said that the High Court was providing every possible support in terms of encouragement, capacity building and provision of state-of-the-art equipment to the judges. He said that it was now up to the judges to deliver justice in a manner that the aggrieved parties get due relief without any problems.

Moreover, he said that if the judges made fair decisions, they had nothing to fear.

Justice Ahsan further said that judiciary as an institution was at the crossroads of history. He said that the purpose of capacity building programs was to lay a stronger foundation of provision of justice.

“Law is a living and ever-growing organism with the sole object of delivering justice in a quick and effective manner,” he said.

Justice Ahsan asked the participants to decide cases with hard work, commitment and motivation and contribute to building a new judiciary.
