Government approves PCB constitution: Zaka

Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohammad Zaka Ashraf said on Friday that the government has approved the new constitution of the PCB which is in line with the constitution of International Cricket Council.

“It is a positive sign that PCB constitution has been approved by the Government and it has been framed according to the laws of the ICC,” he said after the sports gala of KinnairdCollege here.

He said the PCB framed its constitution as per a direction of ICC to run the PCB under a democratic setup and made necessary amendments and sent it to ICC which approved it after which it was sent to the government for final approval.

“We have not yet received its approved copy and we are awaiting its,” he added.

Zaka Ashraf said the Pakistan Super League has been postponed to organize it on in befitting manner and the negative impression being given in its postponement is not a fair thought.

“All the stake holders were of the opinion that they should be given ample time to hold PSL as heavy funds were required for its organization in a trend setting manner,” he said.

He said: “In order to consider the point of view of stake holders we decided it to postpone it and we will be announcing its new schedule after finalizing all the necessary arrangements and allied issues.”

Zaka Asrhaf said PSL organizing committee is working on the project (league) and it is working on day to day basis to launch country’s first cricket league in a memorable way.

He said PCB was ensuring every measure to bring back international cricket to Pakistan and holding of PSL is a part of its efforts to break the dead lock of international cricket in Pakistan.

“Our main priority is to ensure the resumption of international cricket and in Pakistan and we are making gradual progress in this regard.”
