Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed of the petition filed by Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) against the permanent bail of senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and Federal Textiles Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin.
ANF requested the court to issue arrest warrants for the minister but the court rejected the request and disposed of the case.
However, the honourable court has agreed to hear petitions against the bails of other individuals involved in the ephedrine case including Nadeem Zafar, Sheikh Ansaar and PML-N’s Hanif Abbasi. Notices in this regard have been issued to all relevant parties.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk heard case on Friday.
During the hearing Shahid Abbasi represented the ANF, Sardar Muhammad Ishaq represented Shahabuddin and Hanif Abbasi while two alleged criminals Nadeem Zafar and Sheikh Ansaar appeared before the court in person.
ANF’s counsel Shahid Abbasi told the court that the accused, including Hanif Abbasi and others, had been granted bails by the Lahore High Court, and requested the apex court to cancel these bails because irrefutable evidence existed against them.
Having disposed off the petition, the court adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period.
