Ebad directs KESC to devise uninterrupted power supply plan

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on Thursday instructed the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) administration to devise a comprehensive plan for uninterrupted power supply during summer.
He said this while talking to the newly appointed KESC Chairman Tabish Gohar and Chief Executive Officer Nayyer Hussain at the Governor House. He urged the administration to adopt conservation policy by keeping in view the gas shortage in the country besides providing maximum relief to the masses. The governor said that bringing an end to power outages in 50 percent areas of the metropolis was a highly commendable act, but it was necessary to overcome load shedding in other parts of Karachi too. He said Karachi was the economic hub of the country and the jobs of millions of people were linked to this mega city.
Ibad further said it was impossible to run industrial units without power supply, so it was the need of the hour to provide uninterrupted power supply to the industries. He asked the administration to use all resources for enhancing the power capacity and to take all possible steps to equip the organisation with the latest technology.
The Sindh governor urged the KESC administration to use all resources for the generation of electricity and accelerate work on early completion of KESC-KMC project. He assured the administration of full assistance from the provincial government in order to provide maximum relief to the masses.
He said the objective of the government regarding privatisation of KESC was to provide latest facilities to the general public. He hoped that the administration would improve their performance and would also utilise gas, oil and other recourses for power generation carefully. He directed the administration to expedite work on up-gradation of the existing system while completely replacing the old one.
