After regular complaints of overloading and damages to newly-launched buses, the Punjab government has decided to impose Rs 10 as minimum fare from February 16 for the previously free Rapid Bus Transit Service. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif held an emergency meeting with the concerned authorities to exchange views over operational issues and complaints that had emerged after the launch of the metro bus service. The meeting pondered over all options and finally decided to charge Rs 10 as minimum fair from the travelers and to appoint constables in each bus to ensure that the passengesr do not damage the buses.
