7th Infotech Golf tees off on Saturday

The much-awaited Infotech Golf Tournament will be contested today (Saturday) at the par-72 Royal Palm Golf and Country Club Golf Course.

It is an 18 holes stroke play competition and the eager golf players  who have registered as the eligible ones including invitees add upto a total of 132 competitors. This represents a huge number for a one day championship but such a response cannot be avoided as this Infotech Event has attained a high level of prestige and upcoming golf players consider it an important  platform to show their ability and worth as champions of standing.

Naseer Akhter of Infotech,a steady golfer himself was extremely pleased about the response and hoped that middle figure handicappers like Imran Miraj, Tariq Mustafa, Fareed Bajwa, Rashid Akber will be able to challenge some names of standing like Amir Mehmood, Sardar Murad, Asad Amin and Lt Gen(r)M.Tariq.

The conditions at the golf course are in the excellence range and bracket and participating competitors will enjoy crisp shot-making on the fairways, with lie of the ball as good as can be.

Single handicappers always represent the fearsome lot in any golf contest and once again the names that stand out in the Infotech Golf Championship are  Omer Salamat, Sardar Murad, Azfar Hassan, Abdullah Sharif, Shaoib Shams, Faisal Malik and Sohaib Bokhari. All of them possess winning ability and they are capable of hitting long off the tees in the 280 yards plus distance  on all the par fours and par fives which gives them a distinct advantage over the competitors who at best can grade as modest hitters.

The tee off will be at 10.30am through a shot gun start and events at stake are gross, net, longest drive and nearest to the pin.

Prize distribution will be a grand affair in line with importance of the occasion and will be held at 3.30pm at Royal Palm.
