Police arrests 80; drugs, weapons seized

Rural Zone of Islamabad police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested 80 outlaws including 25 proclaimed offenders and recovered 291 kilogram of hashish, over 70 pistols and other sophisticated weapons during the last one month. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, SP (Rural) Sardar Sadaqat said various teams under his supervision arrested 55 outlaws, including 25 proclaimed offenders, for their involvement in various heinous crimes. During the press conference, the SP was flanked by DSP Khursheed Khan and DSP Arshad Khokhar.
The SP said police team of this zone had recovered a huge cache of illegal weapons, two cars and 291 kilogram hashish from the nabbed criminals. “The weapons included over 70 pistols, guns and thousands of cartridges,” he said. He said that Nilore police team headed by DSP Khursheed Khan, including SHO Asjad Altaf, foiled a bid of drug smuggling and recovered over seven rounds of hashish being transported to various parts of the country. Sardar Sadaqat said in another strike, a police team of Shahazad Town Police Station arrested Shoaib and recovered a huge cache of weapons after he revealed information during investigation.
The weapons recovered from him included 27 guns of 12 bore, 147mm rifles, two 22 bore rifles, two Kalashnikovs, one 44 bore rifle, 44 pistols of 30 bore, one 38 bore revolver, one 9mm pistol, one 22 bore pistol and 9504 rounds of ammunition from a shop at Alipur Firash.
