A scuffle took place on Wednesday between lawyers practicing at the district court and local traders over the formers’ attempt to encroach a public football ground to establish law chambers. On Wednesday, dozens of lawyers brought building materials at the ground to set up their chambers, however, local traders strongly resisted the lawyers’ attempts that led to the scuffle. Both used sticks, iron rods and fists in the quarrel. Resultantly, several lawyers and traders got injured. Some even resorted to aerial firing. A lawyer, Khizar Hayat said, “We want to construct law chambers on this location. If people think that this is illegal then they should ask the CDA to stop us. We are not answerable to trade union and do not care if they have some reservations regarding this,” he added.According to an eyewitness, police and the officials of CDA were present when the incident took place. “The lawyers entered the ground by jumping the walls,” he said.
