City turns into bandit territory; 9 more killed

Despite the deployment of police and Rangers around the metropolis, the continuing violence claimed nine more lives including city government’s contractor during the last 24 hours while over 10 people suffered injuries in the gunfire incidents here on Wednesday.
The most recent incident occurred at Qalandria Chowk near Sakhi Hasan area of the city where 37-year Jahangir Khan lost his life in drive-by shooting at his car. The deceased was a contractor of the city district government.
Gulbahar’s sanitary market also witnessed violence when some unknown saboteurs opened indiscriminate fire, killing Malik Niaz and Idrees on the spot. Another man was critically wounded in Orangi Town firing incident. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
A man identified as Azmat was shot down in Korangi 1 and another 35-year man Khalid Mehmood sitting outside his house was gunned down in Qayyumabad.
A 30-year man, Ishaq, was killed in a firing incident in Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Baldia Town. Meantime, tortured body of a 28-year youth was recovered from Surjani Town, Sector-L1.
Unidentified gunmen, after chasing a car, opened gunfire at it near Russian Consulate in Clifton, killing the driver, Essa, who dealt in cars.
Some unknown assailants targeted a car near FTC on Shahra-e-Faisal, critically injuring sub-inspector Ghulam Raza and his wife Fakhra.
Meantime, terrorists injured an FC man in Steel Town by opening gunfire at him. Four others were injured in firing incidents in Orangi Town, Machhar Colony, Lasbela’s Zenat Chowk and New Karachi Sector 5B.
