Despite the increase in the local transport fares, the transporters had still not completed their designated routes in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The commuters, who travel daily between the twin cities, are facing problems due to non-compliance of route number 1, 1C, 3, 111, 121, 21, 105 and 127 by the public transporters. The commuters said the concerned authorities should take stern action against the transporters involved in route violations. “I got on a wagon of Route Number 127 from Lake View Park stop. After I boarded the vehicle, the conductor told me that they would only go up to Aabpara as they were running on petrol,” Adnan Khan, a commuter at Aabpara bus stop complained. However, the same vehicle departed for F-8 after charging double fare, he alleged. An official of the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) said a help-line had been established to address the grievances of the commuters. He said the commuters could register their complaints in case there was any route violation or overcharging.
