Deputy Prime Minister and senior PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Sunday said representatives of the PML-N were “deaf and dumb” and the onus of today’s gas and electricity crises in the province fell on Shahbaz Sharif.
Addressing a public gathering, he said had Shahbaz agreed to the proposal put forth by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, the duration of power outage would have dropped to only four hours a day.
“If today there is no gas and electricity in the province, it is Shahbaz Sharif who is responsible,” he said.
Slamming the Punjab administration’s performance, Elahi said billions of rupees were squandered in projects like Aashiyana Scheme, Tandoor Scheme and laptop giveaways.
“Shahbaz has thrown Punjab into bankruptcy by commissioning the bus service in the province,” he maintained. He said 100 robberies were occurring each day in Lahore, the capital of Punjab. “Is it good governance?”
“The supply of petrol to the police patrol, whose job is to nab thieves and robbers, has been suspended,” he added. “Today neither the
honour nor life or property of the citizens is safe,” he regretted. Elahi said Nawaz Sharif, president of the PML-N, had now started talking about “bad governance” in Sindh. “I ask him (Nawaz) whether there is good governance in Punjab?” “Mian Sahab, one should cast a critical glance at the state of one’s own house first,” he advised.
