Twelve people, including four cops, were injured in rocket and grenade attacks in Quetta and Peshawar on Sunday, police said. Deputy Inspector General Police (Operations Wing) Wazir Khan Nasar said militants fired three rockets from an undisclosed location which landed in various areas of Quetta. The attacks caused suspension of power supply to Abu-Al-Khair Road area. “Three children and two women are also injured,” Nasar said. He said the condition of one of the injured is serious. Emergency was imposed in civil hospital Quetta and doctors were immediately called to treat the patients. Separately, as many as four policemen, including a sub-inspector, were injured in a grenade attack on a police van in Peshawar. According to initial unconfirmed reports, unidentified attackers hurled hand grenades at a police van near Hasht Nagri police station on GT Road, leaving four policemen, including Sub- Inspector Imranuddin and driver Abbas injured and police van engulfed in fire. The rescue teams and additional contingent of police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to Lady Reading Hospital. Two of them are said to be in serious condition. Traffic remained suspended on GT Road after the attack. Meanwhile, police defused two bombs near Pando Chowk in the Chamkani police precincts. According to police, the bombs were concealed in shopping bags near Pando Chowk on Ring Road. The Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the spot and defused them.
