The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed an application to withdraw its reference against property tycoon Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz in land scam case. The application for withdrawing reference in the 1,401-kanal land scandal case has been filed by NAB Prosecutor Mirza Shafiq under Section 31-B of NAB Ordinance in the Rawalpindi Accountability Court. The NAB prosecutor stated in the application that no evidence could be found against Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz in the land scandal case therefore no case be registered against them and all the cases registered against them on this count be dismissed on the basis of lack of evidence. Earlier, the court had summoned Malik Riaz and his son, but they did not appear. The court granted their bail pleas against sureties of Rs 500,000 each. However, the court issued the arrest warrants of the other four accused including Ashfaq, Dildar, Raza Hussain and Milad Bibi due to their absence from the court, and summoned the parties concerned on February 16 for arguments.
