UK education fair gets underway

Students keen to acquire higher education abroad will find the two-day United Kingdom (UK) Study Fair being held in Hotel Sheraton Karachi very useful. This was said by Global Education Fairs and Conferences Middle East and Africa Director Operations Fiza Ahmed at a reception hosted last evening by British Deputy High Commissioner and Trade and Investment Director Francis Campbell for the universities’ representatives visiting Pakistan.
Fiza said the UK Study Fair which started yesterday, had more than 30 universities of the UK exhibiting here to highlight the opportunities available there for foreign students. She added that the study fair was a first of its kind to be hosted in Pakistan, and had received such an enthusiastic response that another one would be held in November, and thereafter a fair would also be held on an annual basis.
She pointed out that students interested in attending UK universities for higher education had a great opportunity to learn about what the universities in that country had to offer.
Furthermore, Fiza said that her organisation had created a platform for UK universities and Pakistani students to interact with each other on a regular basis. She said the fair was also a unique opportunity for universities and institutes in Pakistan to build strategic partnerships.
Earlier British Deputy High Commissioner Francis Campbell said that representatives of UK universities coming to Pakistan were a catalyst for Pakistan which could send across a good message that the country was open for business. Such initiatives would also help Pakistan to resolve the negative perception that it had been suffering from since long, she added. He said the one key ingredient that had the potential to ensure Pakistan’s bright future was education.
He added that at any given time more than 30,000 Pakistani students were studying in UK universities which demonstrated the strong ties between both countries.
