The Pakistan Super League (PSL), the country’s upcoming T20 tournament has been postponed. According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the new schedule for the tournament will be announced later. The PCB press release stated: “The concerns expressed by the stakeholders on tight timelines for submission of bids & leveraging of assets, hold merit.” The press release further stated that 80 international players had signed for the PSL auction but the process of acquiring NOCs was still underway and would require time. Furthermore, scheduling conflicts which arose after the PSL dates were announced could result in potential star players not being able to take part.
The tournament was originally scheduled to take place from 26 March to 7 April.
“Since the time we have announced PSL the response from sponsors, broadcasters, potential franchises and players has been over whelming. Over 80 foreign players have already signed agreements with PSL, a number of foreign coaches, umpires and referees have also signed up with PSL,” said Salman Sarwar Butt, Managing Director PSL.
“The processes that we are following to award various rights i.e., those of broadcasters, sponsors, franchisees etc., are very transparent.
nice it is a really great design…. because many of the players want to play in psl and theirs related boards are not willing to issue noc to their players…
So, in other words, PCB did not do its homework and planning right from the beginning, which is the usual case. And now it is trying to cover up its incompetency by trying to come up with some useless excuses. Pathetic.
